I am very pleased and excited about starting my career in the LIS field. I am also humbled and feel extremely privileged to have been selected to be a part of the inaugural ACE Scholars program and earn a Masters degree at one of the country’s most  well respected LIS programs here at UNCG. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would be in such a position as I am currently in now.  My journey to this point in my life has been a long and rewarding one. I grew up in Charlotte N.C. and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1993. After 12 years of working and a lot of life experience I decided to go into a new direction in the way of a career. I had been in retail for the previous several years in sporting goods and sports memorabilia. In 2005 I was managing a sports memorabilia store at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville. I was working very long hours  and was constantly under enormous pressure and stress. I made a decent salary, but I began to hate going to work every day and I figured that I would never be happy doing what I was doing going forward.  With a extreme passion for history I decided to attend Pfeiffer University in N.C. in 2005 and graduated with a B.A. in History in 2009. I went directly to graduate school at uncg/uncc to pursue my MLIS. I would like to pursue a career in the areas of university libraries or special collections of some sort.
